Worship Arts — Severns Valley Baptist Church
Are you called to lead worship? Do you want to grow deeper in your walk with Jesus while serving a church family that loves God, loves people, and makes disciples? The Worship Resident position invites you to step into a year of intentional discipleship, hands-on ministry, and spiritual formation. You'll learn alongside our Worship Pastor, lead people in encountering Jesus through music and worship, and discover more fully how God is calling you to live out your role in His story.
This is more than a job—it's a next step in your journey as a follower of Jesus who wants to equip others.
What You'll Do
- Lead worship for Celebrate Recovery (3 times per month)—helping participants encounter Jesus in the midst of their healing journey, managing the team with care and excellence, and preparing services with thoughtfulness and attention to detail
- Serve the Sunday morning worship experience (3–4 times per month)—leading or co-leading congregational worship, playing instruments on the team, and supporting the preparation that makes worship possible
- Support Wednesday evening worship and student ministry—leading worship sets, occasionally teaching from Scripture, and facilitating worship sectionals
- Engage in the life of our church family—showing up at church events, helping where needed, and serving other ministries when called to do so

- Deepen your personal spiritual disciplines and your relationship with Jesus—pursuing Him more fully through the regular rhythms of this year
- Develop your leadership, teamwork, and communication skills—learning from a mentor who genuinely cares about your formation
- Gain real-world ministry experience in a healthy, Jesus-centered church environment—seeing how gospel-centered leadership works in practice
Who We're Looking For
- A follower of Jesus with a growing, active relationship with Him—someone who pursues holiness, studies Scripture, and prays
- Someone called to lead worship and shepherd people—with demonstrated ability to lead and a genuine heart to point others toward Jesus
- A learner with humility—teachable, willing to receive feedback, and eager to grow
- A reliable, hardworking team player—someone who shows up, commits fully, and serves joyfully alongside others
- Someone aligned with our mission and values—to love God, love people, and make disciples by helping people fulfill their role in God's story
The Details
- Time Commitment: 25–30 hours per week
- Duration: 1 year (August 17, 2026 – July 29, 2027)
- Schedule: Includes Sundays and occasional weekday evenings for events
- Reports to: Worship Pastor
- Mentorship: Regular one-on-one meetings, feedback, and growth evaluation throughout your residency
- Compensation: Approximately $16,000 per year
- Housing: Available on church property, if needed
