Role: The Student Pastor has a heart that longs to see Students (6th-12th grade) come to know the love of Jesus and share that love with others as they grow into mature followers of Jesus. He will partner with parents and volunteers to create a culture of evangelism and discipleship in our Student Ministry. The Student Pastor cooperates with SV Staff to plan, develop, implement, and promote a consistent spiritual development pathway from birth to senior adulthood and supports the overall mission of SV.

Reports to: Lead Pastor
Oversight to: 2 Interns, Student Ministry Lead Team, Student Volunteers
Responsibilities:
- Lead in developing and implementing a holistically focused ministry that helps students (6th to 12th grade) and their families (where appropriate) come to know the love of Jesus and share that love with others as they grow into mature followers of Jesus
- Lead in Identifying, equipping, and empowering a Student Ministry Leadership Team of key committed and gifted volunteer leaders to support the Student Ministry. This team will provide input and leadership support to the following areas:
- Sunday morning ministry
- Curriculum selection/development for all Student programming
- Specialized Ministries (Topical Studies, Special Needs)
- Outreach events
- School/Campus Ministry
- Family events/programming
- Summer Camp/VBS
- Mission Trips (Here, Near, & Far)
- Volunteer recruitment, training, and coordination
- Additional aspects as the ministry develops
- Lead in identifying, equipping, and empowering a team of volunteers to do the work of the ministry of helping students to be fully devoted followers of Jesus who Love God, Love People and Make Disciples
- Lead in developing a ministry to students with special needs.
- Counsel with the adult leadership of student organizations and parents of students
- Assist with the enlisting and training of adult leadership in the student organizations
- Lead by example in areas of evangelism, discipleship, missions and personal accountability - visiting students as needed to win them to Christ and bringing the Christian Gospel to bear upon their personal needs.
- Maintain an awareness of the materials and methods of church program organizations serving students, as well as informing the church of current and future ministries
- Prepare and administer an annual budget for the Student Ministry.
- Attend weekly staff, and regular one-on-one meetings with Lead Pastor
- Work in harmony with other church staff
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Personal
- A committed Christian living in accordance with the Word of God whose moral character models the Christian lifestyle.
- A member of Severns Valley Baptist Church.
- A student of and has a commitment to God’s word.
- Ability to be flexible, teachable, and sensitive to God’s leadership.
- Willing to be a servant.
- Highly self-motivated, organized, and committed to humble servant leadership.
- Has an ability to build and lead a team.
- Highly organized and efficient with time.
- A people person.
- Training and Development
- Be thoroughly informed and experienced in working with Preschool age children and their families.
- Willing to attend approved conferences and seminars to gain more expertise in ministering to Preschoolers, their parents and Preschool workers.
- Have appropriate training and practical experience to perform all duties as stated above.
